Morgan Rogers grabbed the winner for Villa

England's Morgan Rogers inspired Aston Villa to a 2-1 comeback victory over West Ham in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Hammers made a perfect start to the Graham Potter era when Lucas Paqueta opened the scoring in the ninth minute.

Villa gradually took control and drew level on 71 minutes when Amadou Onana bundled in a rebound.

Just four minutes later, Rogers struck the eventual winner when he flicked home after great work from Ollie Watkins.

Villa have only progressed past the third round of the Emirates FA Cup once in the last eight seasons, having reached the fourth round last term.

In the other game on Friday night, League One Wycombe Wanderers deservedly claimed a 2-0 victory over Championship side Portsmouth

The in-form hosts took an early lead through Brandon Hanlan on 17 minutes and Sonny Bradley made it two ten minutes later, which would prove enough to seal progress.

Everton, Fulham and Cardiff advance

On Thursday night, goals from Beto and Iliman Ndiaye sent Everton into the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup on the day that Sean Dyche left the club.

Facing League One Peterborough United, Everton scored a goal in each half, Ndiaye sealing the place in the next round from the spot deep into second-half stoppage time.

News that Dyche had been relieved of his duties came a matter of hours before the game kicked off, with Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman taking charge of proceedings for the Toffees.

Elsewhere, Fulham showed their class in the second half as they overcame Watford 4-1 at Craven Cottage.

In the opening game of the weekend, Cardiff City became the first team to reach the fourth round as they edged out fellow Championship side Sheffield United 1-0.
