The FA Community Shield is always a beautiful occasion.

To be here means you have achieved so much in the previous season, so it’s a privilege to have the chance to win this trophy. We enjoyed our summer break – it was good to relax and recharge – but can’t wait to get going again, starting with this game today.

Liverpool are an incredible rival for us. It's such an honour to compete with them for trophies because they are so good.

City and Liverpool have pushed each other for a long time and I am sure that will continue this season. Jurgen is so good at what he does, and his players are always well prepared.

I feel even more confident we can have a positive season. This group of players are hungry for more trophies – they love to win, and they dedicate their lives to Manchester City. Being the manager of this team is fantastic because every single day I am surrounded by top professionals.

We’re all excited about the new season. There’s no doubt last season was difficult for us, emotionally and physically, but we feel good right now and we will do everything we can to make our fans happy again this season.

We know it will be tough, but our aim is to play good football and hopefully be successful. Our opponents in every competition are always so difficult. That’s why the consistency we have shown over the past five years should make everyone connected to Manchester City so proud.
