A four-star performance from the Young Lions saw them pick up victory in Portugal

Thursday 14 Nov 2019
England enjoyed a 4-0 win over Portugal on Thursday

England MU20s got back to winning ways on Thursday courtesy of a 4-0 victory against Portugal.

The Young Lions travelled to the Estadio Municipal de Agueda after a home defeat to Czech Republic and a draw against Italy last month.

And they gave boss Keith Downing a perfect response with a fine first-half display seeing them lead by three goals at the break.

Stoke City striker Tyrese Campbell sealed his return to the international scene in style with two goals, his second from the penalty spot, to get England underway.

And Manchester City forward Ian Poveda-Ocampo made it 3-0 midway through the half, on what was a difficult pitch for both teams.

Portugal improved after the break, but Emile Smith-Rowe put the seal on victory with a fourth goal just after the hour mark in what was his first international game of the season.

The Young Lions will now head back to home soil for a game against Iceland’s U21s at Adams Park in Wycombe on Tuesday evening. Tickets for that game are on sale, priced at £5 for adults and £1 for concessions.
