The Three Lions will play Austria and Romania in June

England will face Austria and Romania in June as part of their preparations for UEFA EURO 2020.

The Three Lions will travel to Vienna to face Austria on Tuesday 2 June 2020 (7.45pm kick-off UK time) at the Ernst Happel Stadion as part of their pre-tournament training camp.

Gareth Southgate’s squad will then host the Romanians on Sunday 7 June 2020 (kick-off TBC) at a venue in England that is still to be confirmed.

Austria have been draw alongside Ukraine, the Netherlands and a play-off winner in Group C of next summer’s finals. June’s fixture will see England return to the scene of their last meeting with Austria – a 1-0 win in November 2007 -  and chalk up their 19th encounter with Franco Foda’s side.

Romania, who are hoping to secure their place as hosts at UEFA EURO 2020 via the play-offs in March 2020, last faced England in the group stages of EURO 2000. That 3-2 defeat was one of 11 previous meetings with the Three Lions, who have only won twice.

A date had already been booked with fellow finalists Denmark at Wembley Stadium connected by EE on Tuesday 31 March (8pm kick-off) while opponents for a fixture under the arch on Friday 27 March – to be the Heads Up International in support of The FA’s charitable partnership with HRH The Duke of Cambridge’s Heads Together initiative – will be confirmed in due course.

Following Saturday’s draw in Bucharest, England know they will face Croatia and the Czech Republic in Group D at UEFA EURO 2020 as well as the winner of the play-off path featuring Scotland, Israel, Norway and Serbia. All three fixtures will be played at Wembley with dates set for Sunday 14 June (2pm kick-off v Croatia), Friday 19 June (8pm kick-off v TBC) and Tuesday 23 June (8pm v Czech Republic).
