Premier League and EFL Championship clubs join the Emirates FA Cup following the draw

Monday 08 Dec 2025
The Emirates FA Cup third round proper will be staged across the weekend of Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 January 2026

The draw for the Emirates FA Cup third round proper has been made, with clubs from the English Premier League and EFL Championship entering the competition at this stage.

32 ties were drawn out on Monday evening, live on TNT Sports, with former FA Cup winners Peter Crouch and Joe Cole pulling out the balls ahead of the final tie of the weekend between Brackley Town and Burton Albion.

And holders Crystal Palace will begin their defence with a trip to play non-League club Macclesfield FC in what is sure to be an eye-catching tie.

Elsewhere, there's local derbies as Shrewsbury Town make the short trip to play Wolves, an all-Lancashire clash between Preston North End and Wigan Athletic, while in the capital West Ham will host QPR at the London Stadium and Charlton Athletic will play Chelsea at the Valley.

There's also four all Premier League ties and five all Championship ties among the list.

The third round proper will take place across the weekend of Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 January 2026, with details on the full schedule to be released in due course following discussions between clubs, broadcast partners and local authorities.
