FA team up with Subbuteo to launch first all-female football set

Thursday 03 May 2018

The FA and Subbuteo have launched the world’s first all-female football set to celebrate Saturday’s SSE Women’s FA Cup Final.

The limited edition set of the iconic table football game represents a landmark moment in the long history of Subbuteo and supports The FA’s objective to tackle barriers within the women’s game.

The set includes 22 outfield players and six substitutes decked in the red of Arsenal and blue of Chelsea Ladies.

Each player has been carefully hand moulded and painted with their own unique characteristics and detailing. And the classic Subbuteo box has received a new design, placing female footballers front and centre.

Former England winger Sue Smith unveiled the new-look Subbuteo set at Wembley Stadium ahead of this weekend's showpiece.

“I think this just shows the growth of the women’s game in this country,” she said.

“This set is so special because it represents the diversity of women’s football in this country. And whether girls play professionally or at amateur level, they’ve got a chance to recognise themselves in the figures on the Subbuteo pitch.

“The growth of women’s football is getting better and better, year on year. There are now more girls participating in football, we’re getting more fans at games, which something The FA really wanted to improve by 2020, and they are on target to achieve that so it’s fantastic.”

Fans will be given the opportunity to get their hands on this limited edition Subbuteo at Saturday’s SSE Women’s FA Cup Final and via The FA’s social channels in the coming months.

Tickets to the Final are priced £15 for adults while kids go FREE!
