Danny Cowley's Imps knocked out top-flight side Burnley on their run to The Emirates FA Cup quarter final this year

The Emirates FA Cup is famous for its giant-killings, and this year the competition saw its fair share of shocks and upsets.

Voting was opened for the famous Giant-Killing Award in April, giving fans the opportunity to pick their most memorable shock of the season, with Stourbridge, Sutton United, Lincoln City and Millwall all in the mix for their notable Cup-sets.

And after thousands of votes, it was Lincoln City that claimed the for their memorable victory over Premier League side Burnley in the fifth round.

Sean Raggett’s last-minute goal at Turf Moor saw the Imps secure a memorable win and go through to the quarter-finals, becoming the first non-League side to do so in 103 years.

“To be crowned the winners of The FA Cup Giant-Killing Award caps off a memorable year and is a well-deserved reward for everyone who has played their part in the club's remarkable campaign, not least the players and management who have written their names into Lincoln City folklore,” said Lincoln’s club secretary John Vickers.

“The deserved victories over higher league opposition in the shape of Oldham Athletic, Ipswich Town, Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley plus the historic quarter final tie at Arsenal created memories for Lincoln City fans that will last a lifetime.

“Whilst our priority was always to succeed in our quest for a return to the English Football League, our Emirates FA Cup journey this season was an unbelievable experience and highlights why it is the world's greatest cup competition.”

The win will see representatives from the club invited to Wembley Stadium for The Emirates FA Cup Final, where they will be presented with their award at half time by Ronnie Radford.

Ronnie himself was part of a historic giant-killing as he helped create one of the competition’s most famous shocks by scoring for Hereford United when they played Newcastle United in 1972.

His 30-yard screamer saw Hereford equalise in the replay match before Ricky George sent Hereford through to the next round!

Congratulations to all that were nominated and to Lincoln City for their memorable Emirates FA Cup run this season.
