Wealdstone sprung perhaps the biggest surprise in the Buildbase FA Trophy second round with a 2-1 victory at National League side Southport.

Danny Green broke the deadlock before half-time, but Southport pulled level through Jake Wright.

But a stunning goal from Elliot Benyon, crashing in from 30 yards, proved the difference as the National League South side moved into Monday’s last-16 draw - to be shown live via Periscope on the @FA Twitter account from 10.30am.

There were no surprises at Prenton Park however, as Tranmere Rovers comfortably saw off South Park 4-1.

Goals from Ritchie Sutton, Jeff Hughes, with a penalty, and Jake Kirby in the first half put Tranmere in total control. But Kieran Lavery gave the 202 visiting supporters something to cheer when he converted a 25-yard free-kick.

Sutton was shown a straight red card with 10 minutes left on the clock, but Cole Stockton was still able to add a fourth.

National League leaders Lincoln City came from behind to beat Gateshead 3-1.

Goals from Sam Habergham, Elliott Whitehouse and Terry Hawkridge, cancelled out Jordan Burrow’s fourth-minute effort.

In another all-National League tie, Forest Green Rovers won 2-0 at Chester with Marcus Kelly scoring both.

Three goals in the final 28 minutes, saw Barrow fight back from two behind against Matlock Town to triumph 3-2, Dan Livesey notching the winner with almost 1,000 in attendance.

Debutant Rhys Browne was among the goals as Macclesfield Town won 3-1 away at AFC Sudbury

Adam Coombes’ stunning 25-yard free-kick settled the Kent derby, as Welling United won 2-1 at Bromley.

Micheal Cheek helped himself to a hat-trick as Braintree Town won 5-2 at East Thurrock United, while Jordan Nicholson scored five times in Nuneaton Town’s 6-1 home win against Guiseley.

Sutton United, with an Emirates FA Cup third round replay to contest this week, will have an FA Trophy replay to add to their calendar following a 2-2 draw at Worthing.
