South Shields are through to The Buildbase FA Vase semi-finals after a Gavin Cogdon double ensured there would be no surprises in the 6-1 victory over Newport Pagnell.
With more than 3,000 watching on in a Mariners Park record, David Foley gave the hosts plenty to cheer about early on, rattling in a thunderbolt after just three minutes via the underside of the bar.
Wayne Phillips matched his team-mate with an equally-impeccable long-range effort moments later, while Dillon Morse and Robert Briggs made it 4-0 after just 25 minutes.
Shields were not done there, with Cogdon getting in on the act with a penalty midway through the second half, volleying home moments later for his side’s sixth of the match. Pagnell were to pull back a late consolation through Elliott Sandy.
Joining Shields in the last four are Cleethorpes, who beat Southall 5-2, as their best ever season in the competition continues.
Liam Davis and Jon Oglesby were on hand to score early, with the latter getting his second just before half-time.
All of those had come via assists from Brody Robertson, who then turned goal-scorer for the game’s fourth before Davis added a second of his own for the Owls despite two late home consolations.
There was success too for Coleshill Town, who beat Sporting Khalsa 2-0.
Dean Rathbone netted with the game’s first meaningful attack on 10 minutes, while an own goal on the cusp of half-time all but ended the contest.
Bromsgrove Sporting became the final team to reach the last four on Sunday, with second-half goals from Liam Spink and Chris Lloyd doing the damage against Buckland Athletic.
