Biggleswade are into the Buildbase FA Vase Second Round after a nine-goal thriller saw them come from behind in extra-time to secure a 5-4 win over Canning Town.

Julian Edwards’ strike had given Canning Town an extra-time lead, but two scrappy goals in the closing stages saw the visitors prevail in an enthralling encounter.

All that came after Town had missed an early penalty, with Dean Pearson eventually firing home from the spot for the lead.

And as the game went back-and-forth, it seemed as if George Bailey had won it for Biggleswade in normal time, only for a late winner to give fans a further 30 minutes of frantic action.

Sam Denton’s hat-trick proved to be in vain for Handsworth Parramore, who twice came from a goal down before ultimately losing 4-3 to Shepshed Dynamo.

Liam Read and Ben Halesey got the crucial Dynamo strikes in a three-minute sucker-punch, with Denton’s treble-clinching penalty not enough to prevail against their ninth-tier rivals.

Elsewhere within the 101 First Round ties, FA Vase managerial stars Graham Fenton and Lee Picton are still in with a chance of more glory after South Shields edged out Runcorn Linnets 2-1.

But the pair – FA Vase winners with rivals North Shields in 2015 – needed an injury-time Robert Griggs goal to get the better of the visitors.

They’ll be joined in the Second Round by Charnock Richard – whose goal machine Carl Grimshaw just can’t stop scoring.

He only opened the game’s account in extra time – a 308th in his 272nd game – the first of four quick-fire goals of which two were Grimshaw’s, as BarnoldswickTown fell to a 3-1 scoreline.

Meanwhile, goals were aplenty at Thrapston Town as Curtis Donaldson’s hat-trick was just a small part of a ten-goal afternoon that saw Leverstock Green progress 7-3.

Uttoxeter Town took the spoils with a 5-4 victory of their own thanks to a rampant afternoon for Harry Price against Leicester Road, but it was rather more one-sided as Eastbourne Town beat Tooting & Mitcham Wanderers 9-0.

Rocester got past Oakham United 8-1, and Emirates FA Cup heroes Westfields continued their cup heroics by beating Walsall Wood 6-0.

Finally, Peterborough Sports got the better of Swaffham Town 6-0, while Wembley are one step closer to a trip to home in the final thanks to a 5-2 victory over Desborough Town.
