Dele Alli struck a cast-iron contender for goal of the season as Tottenham Hotspur came back to defeat Crystal Palace 3-1.

The 19-year-old England midfielder juggled a headed pass from Christian Eriksen on the edge of the Palace area, before swivelling to volley home for Spurs’ second.

Jan Vertonghen put through his own net on the half-hour to hand the hosts the lead, only for Harry Kane to level on 63 minutes with a powerful header. Alli’s stunner was then followed by a curled effort from Nacer Chadli as Spurs consolidated their position in the top four.

Adam Lallana struck a last-gasp winner as Liverpool edged past Norwich 5-4 in a dramatic game at Carrow Road.

Despite going ahead through Roberto Firmino, Liverpool looked dead and buried as Norwich led 3-1 thanks to goals from Dieumerci Mbokani, debutant Steven Naismith and a Wes Hoolahan penalty.

But captain Jordan Henderson swept home from close range to get the comeback going before Firmino’s second of the game levelled the scores and James Milner coolly slotted the Reds in front on 75 minutes.

Norwich then thought they had earned a point when Sebastien Bassong drilled home in added time, only for substitute Lallana to volley a winner in at the other end to spark wild celebrations.

Meanwhile, Jamie Vardy was back among the goals as he helped Leicester City go back to the top of the Premier League table with a 3-0 victory over Stoke City.

Danny Drinkwater opened the scoring on 42 minutes, before Vardy rounded England teammate Jack Butland for his first goal since 14 December and Leonardo Ulloa added a late third from close range.

Elsewhere, Charlie Austin enjoyed a dream debut for Southampton as he scored the only goal of the game to see off Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Austin came off the bench for Sadio Mane on 79 minutes and with just moments left in the game headed home a corner to secure three points for Saints.

Manchester United had Chris Smalling and Wayne Rooney in their ranks but Southampton – who handed a start to Ryan Bertrand – still left with the win.

Jonjo Shelvey tasted defeat in a Newcastle United shirt for the first time as Watford won 2-1 at Vicarage Road, with Odion Ighalo and Craig Cathcart goals cancelling out Jamaal Lascelles’s effort in reply.

Joe Hart and Fabian Delph started for Manchester City, but they had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Sergio Aguero and West Ham’s Enner Valencia both hitting doubles.
