Emirates FA Cup third round classic goals: Eric Cantona

Eric Cantona in action for Manchester United at Sheffield United in 1995

It had been a blustery afternoon at Bramall Lane on Saturday 9 January 1995, but when Manchester United's Eric Cantona struck in the 82nd minute against Sheffield United, that was quickly forgotten.

There had been little to separate the two teams for most of the tie, but once Mark Hughes put the Reds ahead in the 80th minute, that allowed the Frenchman some freedom to produce a fine goal to add to his impressive repertoire.

Receiving the ball on the right channel and just outside the area, Cantona spotted Blades keeper Alan Kelly slightly off his line before clipping an inch-perfect chip over him and just under the bar to nestle into the far corner.

Cantona duly celebrated in his own inimitable style as Sir Alex Ferguson's side progressed into the fourth round on their way to reaching The FA Cup at Wembley later that year, where they lost out to Everton.
