Arsenal celebrate their sixth goal

Arsenal kept their hopes of winning a 14th SSE Women's FA Cup alive with a stunning 7-0 victory over Sunderland on Sunday – with Danielle van de Donk bagging a hat-trick.

The Gunners had Emma Mitchell sent off after 33 minutes at Borehamwood for two yellow cards in three minutes, but it was the hosts who entered the interval a goal up thanks to van de Donk.

The Dutch forward bundled the ball home after Dominque Janssen’s shot was parried by Rachael Laws in the Sunderland goal.

Ten minutes after the break, the Gunners doubled their lead when Natalia Pablos Sanchon broke down the left and squared it to Dan Carter who poked the ball home from six yards out.

On 74 minutes, it was Sunderland's turn to have a player sent off when Abby Holmes sliced down van de Donk, leaving the referee no choice but to give a penalty and send Holmes off. England international Fara Williams then stepped up to score Arsenal's third.

The Gunners' fourth and fifth goals arrived on the counter attack when first van de Donk finished from Natalia’s cross before Jordan Nobbs, who was outstanding throughout, rounded Laws to bag herself a goal.

Van de Donk then completed her treble with five minutes left when she chipped the ball over Laws.

And Carter then added another on 91 minutes when she scored from a Kelly Smith cross to send the hosts to Wembley in style.

This year’s Final takes place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 14 May and thanks to The FA's partnership with SSE, all children will be able to attend for free.

Adult tickets are priced £15 and group bookings and charter standard discounts are also available.
