Colkett captained Chelsea to FA Youth Cup victory on Monday night
Chelsea captain Charlie Colkett lifted The FA Youth Cup for a second time on Monday night and has now got the taste for trophies.

The 18-year-old led his team-mates to a 2-1 win over Manchester City at Stamford Bridge, completing a 5-2 aggregate victory to retain The Cup.

It was the latest honour for this squad too, following on from their UEFA Youth League title earlier this month.

And Colkett admits his long-term ambition is now to continue his trophy haul by working his way into the west London club’s first team reckoning.

"I’m absolutely delighted, it’s a wonderful feeling and to do it back-to-back makes it even more special," Colkett told TheFA.com.

"I won it last year and then being the captain this year and lifting the trophy with all the boys, is an unreal feeling.

"It’s a great highlight of my career so far. In the last couple of weeks we’ve also won the UEFA Youth League, so to finish the season off like this is fantastic and I look forward to the future.

"We’ve got some great young talent at this club and hopefully I can win many more things with this club."

The Blues had to show their character in the tie too, as City threatened a comeback by taking an early lead through Kelechi Iheanacho.

But it was only a brief surge as Chelsea forwards Izzy Brown and Tammy Abraham both scored to seal their win in front of an adoring home crowd.

"We seem to sometimes concede an early goal but we are also able to keep faith and keep believing," added the east Londoner.

"We don’t let things that like phase us and we just go out and do the job we’ve got to do.

"Complacency before the game was a potential risk but he [Joe Edwards] gets into us and makes sure every one of us stays focused.

"We only had one hand on the trophy, but he managed us really well and we knew what we had to go out and do."

Having been nurtured through Chelsea’s academy over the years, it comes as no surprise to Colkett that they have enjoyed so much success.

"It’s no coincidence that over the number of years that we have done well in this competition," he revealed.

"I think it’s four Finals in six years and that reflects well on the academy and what we put in day in and day out."
