The fixture marks head coach Sean O’Driscoll’s first match on home soil after the former Bournemouth, Bristol City and Doncaster Rovers boss took over last month.

O’Driscoll’s side are currently in Luxembourg where they face the hosts, Belgium and Belarus in the first qualifying round for next summer’s U19s European Championship.

With an impressive performance last month away to Germany, where England were unfortunate not to win the game which ended in a 1-1 draw, O’Driscoll’s Young Lions will be eager to put on a good show against Italy in South Yorkshire.

Winks-Rittenberg-Oduwa

Harry Winks scored for England U18s against Germany in April

The New York Stadium hosted its first international game in 2013, when England Women took on Canada.

Earlier this year, England’s Men’s U18s side beat Germany 2-1 with goals from Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Winks and Blackburn Rovers’ Dean Rittenberg in front of a crowd of over 9,000.

Tickets for the game will be on sale shortly and are priced at just £3 for adults, £1 for children/OAPs.
