Leona Lewis says she is incredibly excited to be a part of Saturday’s FA Cup Final after The FA confirmed that she would be singing Abide With Me and the National Anthem prior to kick-off at Wembley.

The former X-Factor winner admits the possibility of performing at the Cup Final alongside the Band of the Welsh Guards has been on the agenda for some time and says she has not been able to stop thinking about it.

“I’m so excited, I'm really looking forward to it,” she said.

“I do love getting dressed up so there will be a bit of glamour to it”

“I know it’s going to be a crazy atmosphere there so it’ll be fun. I’ve never done anything like it before so it’ll be a cool experience for me.”

Islington-born Leona admits she is not the only one who’s excited about her performance this weekend.

Having grown up in a football-crazy household, the six-time Brit Award winner says her family were over the moon to hear about her upcoming Wembley performance.

“My dad and my brothers are huge football fans so they’re really excited as well," she said.

“On Cup Final day it was the only thing that was allowed to be on the TV and we’d all sit down and watch it. It has always been a big deal.”

A big football fan herself, Leona says she is fully aware of the tradition surrounding the FA Cup Final and says she has chosen her Wembley attire with the size of the occasion in mind.

“I picked out my outfit last week. I wanted it to be simple but also a statement,” she said.

“Really it’s all about the tradition of the game and the emotion of the performance but I do love getting dressed up so there will be a bit of glamour to it as well.”

Watch Leona Lewis and The FA Cup Final on ITV1 from 3pm and BT Sport 1 from 4.15pm. Kick-off is at 5pm
