Joleon Lescott has agreed to join West Bromwich Albion after his contract expires at Manchester City.

The 31-year-old defender will officially become a Baggie in July after passing a medical and penning a two-year contract at The Hawthorns.

He arrives at the club as a free agent, having ended his five-year stay at Manchester City with a second Premier League winners’ medal in three seasons.

Lescott has 26 England caps

Lescott becomes Alan Irvine’s first signing less than a week after he was announced as the club’s new head coach.

And the Scot is delighted to be reunited with the defender, having worked with him previously at Everton.

Irvine said: “He’s an England international and a proven Premier League player, who has been at the top level for a number of years.

“He’s got Premier League and cup medals to his name and has had a fantastic career so far.

“I know Joleon and the type of personality and character he is, in addition to knowing what he can do as a player.

“He’s a great professional and he will add to a number of very good professionals who are already in the squad.”

Lescott, who has won 26 England caps, also lifted The FA Cup and League Cup during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

His last appearance for the Three Lions came in the 1-1 World Cup qualifying campaign draw with Montenegro in March last year.
