Rovers ready for 'difficult task' at City says Chris Taylor

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Chris Taylor is looking forward to what he believes is the “biggest challenge” in football on Wednesday, when they face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The Championship side earned themselves a deserved Third Round replay against Manuel Pellegrini’s men when they held City to a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park in the first tie.

And Rovers now make the short trip to Manchester for a second bite of the cherry and the chance to make themselves heroes with what would be a classic Cup upset.

"We managed to get a good result against probably the best team in the country at the minute,” said Taylor, who was part of the Millwall squad which reached the Semi-Final in last season’s FA Cup.

“So we go again on Wednesday night and hopefully we'll put on a similar performance.

"We want to give them a game like the first match and hopefully we can play our game and cause them a few problems.

"We have to go there with a positive mindset and try to give them a good game. The lads are full of confidence, City is a game we are really looking forward to."

Former Oldham Athletic star Taylor, 27, admits that any result for Gary Bowyer’s side will be a hard task against City’s all-star squad of players.

But he reckons that Rovers will be ready for anything, following a good run of recent form in the Championship and their display in the first leg.

"To play Man City at the Etihad at the minute is probably the biggest challenge to try and get a result as far as places go," Taylor told rovers.co.uk.

"So for us to get a result is going to be extremely difficult, but it is a challenge that we are looking forward to and hopefully take on.

"You can't be daunted, these are the games you want to play in."
