Only the best will do in 2015 for Arsenal Ladies striker Danielle Carter as she revealed her treble target ahead of the new FA Women’s Super League campaign.

Last year proved to be a frustrating year for a Gunners squad accustomed to claiming silverware, as – despite their FA Cup triumph at Stadium:MK early in the season – they stuttered to a fourth place finish in the table before losing to Manchester City in The Continental Cup final.

But Carter is optimistic that now new manager Pedro Martinez Losa, who took the reins in September, is the man to steer her team back to winning ways.

"We want to win everything. I have been there for five years now so I am used to being on the winning team"

“The ambition is for Arsenal to compete how everyone expects us to and how we expect ourselves to,” said the 21-year-old.

“We want to be in the title race at the end of the season and we want to go all the way in both cup competitions.

“The new manager has come in and not necessarily changed much in terms of players but he has got his own input on things, and everyone is keen to start afresh.

“He came in halfway through last season, which was tough, but I think it sets us up nicely for the new campaign. It’s good that he’s already seen the players’ attitudes and what needs to change.

“It is just little things here and there that he has been tinkering with in the off-season.

“We want to win everything. I have been there for five years now so I am used to being on the winning team. It is hard to take when you are not in the title race but it was a tough season and in the end we were just happy to be not far off.”

Carter also has her sights set on a spot in England’s squad for the World Cup in Canada in June.

She has been a regular member of the Under-23s set-up since making her debut in January 2013, having previously made 35 appearances at youth level.

And the youngster is hoping 2015 is the year she finally gets her call-up to the senior side.

She said: “With it also being a World Cup year that is definitely a great motivation for a lot of players.

“Everyone is going to be training and playing hard to book that place on the flight – it will be interesting.

“I think it is difficult to say at this stage who is going to be in that title race and cup finals next season. There are still transfers going on, so I don’t think you can pick a top three until the first ball is kicked.

“It would be nice to see us bring in some players but I don’t think any position in particular needs strengthening. We need to compete and challenge each other, so new arrivals in any position are welcome.”
