Coventry City were victorious in Sunday's Women's Premier League games
Coventry City extended their nine game winning streak across all competitions with a 2-0 win over Bradford City to put them top of the The FA Women's Northern Premier League.

Bradford put in a great defensive effort in the first half, clearing a shot of the line and their woodwork rattled but the score remained 0-0.

It looked to be the same in the second half as both sides put in good performances. But a cross from the by-line from Amber Hughes to Helen Dermody saw the deadlock broken and lovely skill from Destiney Toussaint put Coventry in further control of the game.

Elsewhere, there was a mid-table battle as Newcastle United hosted Preston North End and the confidence both teams had coming into the game led to an exciting end to end match-up.

Preston scored the only goal of the first half, from a chipped through-ball over the defence which Chelsea Flanagan was able to loop over the Newcastle goalkeeper.

The game continued to be end-to-end as both teams played well and looked to attack. A free-kick from Newcastle’s Jessica Havelock found its way to Robyn Parker at the back post and the host levelled the scores.

But the points were not going to be shared as a clearance from a corner found Preston’s Paige Forster on the edge of the box and she fired home the winner, which made it 2-1 to Preston.

The last League game of year between Nottingham Forest and Stoke City was postponed.

In the County Cup, Sheffield Ladies first team continued their goal scoring prowess against their own Sheffield Ladies (Reserves) winning 5-0.

Also in the County Cup, Huddersfield Town were able to put a couple of disappointing weeks behind them against Hemsworth Miners Welfare. With a brace from Emily Heckler and Katie Lockwood and four from Kate Mallin, Huddersfield won 11-0.
