The England striker opened his account for the new season on Sunday, scoring Liverpool’s late winner against Southampton after Three Lions and Reds team-mate Raheem Sterling had earlier put them ahead.

Rodgers is confident that former Manchester City and Chelsea man Sturridge has the ability to become one of the Premier League’s best strikers and thrive as Liverpool’s new talisman.
And with an impressive scoring rate of 36 goals in 50 appearances for the club, he’s already up there with some of Liverpool’s best.
"For Daniel, it was just a continuation, showing he can get goals," said Rodgers.
"That is 36 goals in 50 appearances which is almost the best of any striker in Liverpool's history. That shows the level he is at.
"He always looks like he will score. It was a poacher's goal, one of those where you anticipate a knockdown."
Sturridge has been a regular goalscorer at international level too, playing for the Three Lions at the U16, U17, U18, U19, U20 and Under-21 team before making his senior debut against Sweden in 2011.
He was part of Roy Hodgson’s squad for the trip to Brazil this summer and scored England’s equaliser against Italy in their first group game.
England are next in action on Wednesday 3 September when Norway are the visitors to Wembley before the Three Lions travel to Switzerland for their first Euro 2016 qualifier.
