Raheem Sterling takes on Dortmund in Liverpool's 4-0 win

England trio Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling starred for Liverpool as they demolished Borussia Dortmund at Anfield.

The Reds, who ended last season just two points behind Premier League winners Manchester City, saw off the Germans 4-0 in their final pre-season outing.

And Sturridge and Henderson were both on target while Sterling also weighed in an assist.

It was Three Lions striker Sturridge who opened the scoring with ten minutes gone, latching on to a sublime pass from Philippe Coutinho before poking the ball into the corner of the net.

New signing Dejan Lovran made it 2-0 before half-time and moments after the break Sterling laid on for Coutinho to drill home.

Sturridge then turned provider on the hour, chasing what looked a lost cause as the ball was heading out for a goal-kick.

And though it did appear to go out of play, Sturridge carried on, cutting past a defender inside the box before rolling into the path of Henderson who finished well from close-range.

England defender Glen Johnson also started while Rickie Lambert came on for his first Reds appearance at Anfield after his summer arrival from Southampton.
