Ten-time winners Manchester United advanced to The FA Youth Cup Fourth Round Proper after a clinical 2-0 win at Burnley on Monday night.

United, who are the most successful club in the history of the competition, had a difficult opening hour in front of nearly 1,500 fans at Turf Moor but eventually showed their class thanks to stunning strikes from Andreas Pereira and James Wilson.

Burnley matched the 2011 winners for nearly 60 minutes and were unfortunate not to break the deadlock early on when Luke Daly's goalbound effort was hacked off the line by Sean Goss.

United grew in confidence as the evening progressed and took the lead in spectacular fashion just before the hour mark.

Saidy Janko played in Pereira, who arrowed a sweetly-struck rising drive into the top corner to stun the hosts.

And Wilson completed the win 18 minutes from time with a brilliant solo strike of his own.

The young striker weaved his way into the box after embarking on a slaloming run from inside his own half and tapped the ball into the vacant net having rounded the goalkeeper.
