It's unreal, to be playing for England and scoring goals for Chelsea, it's the things I dreamed of when I was young.
Whenever Tammy Abraham has worn the England shirt, one thing has followed...goals!
The all-action striker first came into the international reckoning with the MU18s squad in late 2014, joining up with a group of players fresh from winning the U17 EURO title the previous summer.
Hailing from Camberwell in south London, he slotted straight in and after making his first England appearance in a defeat away to Italy in October 2014, he scored his first goal the following March when he netted in a 6-1 win over Switzerland at Walsall.
From there, he was a key member of Aidy Boothroyd's MU19s squad as the Young Lions reached the semi-final of the U19 EURO Finals in Germany in the summer of 2016, all while continuing to impress for Chelsea's youth sides.
He then joined Boothroyd with the MU21s while still two years younger than many of his squad mates, helping to fire England to the U21 EURO Finals in 2017 where he formed a focal point of the team's attack in Poland after an impressive season on loan in the Championship with Bristol City.
A loan spell with Swansea City in the Premier League followed in 2017-18, when Abraham's form prompted a call-up to Gareth Southgate's senior squad for the friendly games with Germany and Brazil at Wembley in November 2017, when he made his Three Lions bow in the first of two 0-0 draws.
From there, his return to the MU21s squad saw more goals and caps follow during another successful loan season at Aston Villa. He helped the MU21s reach another tournament final in Italy in 2019, before he started the 2019-20 term by leading the line for Chelsea under new boss Frank Lampard.
A return to the senior squad followed after glut of goals in the first half of the campaign, including his first senior England goal in the win over Montenegro at Wembley in November 2019.
"He’s always scored goals with our junior teams. He’s always scored goals through Chelsea’s youth teams."Gareth Southgate
