BIO
Getting a call-up for any age group is fantastic but to get called into the seniors, it was surreal and I’m really very happy.
A cultured player from central midfield, the Hemel Hempsted native emerged through Tottenham Hotspur's academy to become an England regular from MU17s level up.
With a strong range of passing and ability to link play between defence and attack, it was no surprise that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino took a shine to Winks, who grew up supporting the north London club before fulfilling his dream of playing for them.
On the international front, Winks had to bide his time with a variety of Young Lions squads, including the MU18s and MU20s, as he began to mature physically and his appearances at MU21 level were restricted by some untimely injuries which saw him miss the Euro Finals of 2017.
But his form with Spurs was rewarded by Gareth Southgate, when he was handed his senior team debut in the final 2018 World Cup qualifier with Lithuania.
He missed out on the trip to Russia through injury but emerged again in the autumn of 2018 as the Three Lions reached the UEFA Nations League Finals and secured a pathway into EURO 2020.

"He’s in that category of a very good footballer who can connect defence to attack very well."
