The 15th edition of the FA Women's Football Awards was held at The Brewery in London on 22nd November and hosted by Jacqui Oatley.
It was an occasion which celebrated the FA’s 150 years and also, to mark the 20th anniversary of the FA taking over the running of women's football, former WFA members Pat Gregory and Linda Whitehead were presented with a special Wembley Stone which has been placed by the Bobby Moore statue at Wembley Stadium.
Of course Liverpool’s 2012 title-winning success in the FA WSL was recognised across the main accolades but Beth Mead, Jodie Michalska, Fran Kirby and ‘Coach of the Year’ Mick Mulhern were also awarded for their goal-scoring exploits and title successes in the FAWPL.
Gillian Coultard, the first England Women's player to make 100 international appearances, was presented with a commemorative gold cap, as was current vice-captain Alex Scott, after she reached the landmark against Russia in the summer, whilst the Special Achievement Award was presented to Dawn Barnard, secretary of the Essex County Women's League and Essex County Girls League, for her outstanding service to the women's game since 1986.
