The Bobby Moore Fund has been selected as The FA’s official charity partner this week.

The partnership will run from 2016 until 2018 and is in memory of England’s most successful captain and World Cup winner.

"I am so grateful and proud that The FA has chosen to support the Bobby Moore Fund as their official charity partner,” said Stephanie Moore MBE, Founder of the Bobby Moore Fund.

"Bobby’s first passion in life was football and his favourite stadium in the world was Wembley. It seems incredibly fitting that we should be in partnership as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the World Cup this year.

"Together with The FA, we are committed to developing a dynamic partnership that will inspire and reach fans across the football community.

"As well as raising vital funds for our bowel cancer research projects, we will be able to raise vital awareness of the disease and the signs and symptoms. I know that Bobby would be incredibly proud of all that we will achieve in his name over the next two years.”

The FA's chief executive Martin Glenn was equally delighted with the move, adding: "Bobby Moore is a true legend of English football and The FA is proud to partner with the fund that continues his legacy.

"Together with the support of the football community and England supporters we can raise funds for bowel cancer research and, crucially, can raise awareness of the symptoms of the disease.

"Bobby Moore remains a hero and in his honour we hope to help continue the progress this wonderful charity has made so far."

The link-up also coincides with the England Footballer’s Foundation (EFF) nomination of the Bobby Moore Fund as its Anniversary Partner for 2016-17 and forms a key part of The EFF’s 10th year celebrations in 2017.

England captain Wayne Rooney said: "The players have enjoyed working with the Bobby Moore Fund over a number of years since we established the EFF in 2007.

"We are proud of what our partnership has achieved so far and by joining forces with the FA for the first time to support Stephanie and the BMF, we hope to do our bit in helping to beat bowel cancer."
