The FA Board has on Wednesday formally supported Gianni Infantino for the office of FIFA president ahead of next week’s election in Zurich.

FA Chairman Greg Dyke confirmed The FA’s decision to back the UEFA general secretary when the 209 member associations of world football’s governing body cast their vote at the FIFA Congress on Friday 26 February.

Also on the agenda for the Congress are a series of reform proposals including term limits, integrity checks and greater transparency.

Speaking after a morning meeting at Wembley Stadium, Dyke said: "We decided that we would back Gianni Infantino.

"We did what we promised we would, I spoke to every candidate either in person or on the phone.

"We were impressed by Gianni. We were also impressed by Prince Ali but in the end we decided to go with the UEFA candidate."
