The Emirates FA Cup

The draw for The Emirates FA Cup second round has been completed, as the remaining non-league teams found out who stands between them and a potentially huge tie in the magical third round.

Civil Service FC – who played in the very first FA Cup back in 1871 and are the sole survivers from the 11 original founding clubs 152 years ago – hosted the draw, which was conducted by club president James Kellett and two-time Cup winner Garth Crooks.

And the lowest ranking side in the hat, Northwich Victoria of the Northern Premier League Division One North, face a trip to Northampton Town if they can navigate their way past a replay with Boreham Wood.

Salford City, in the second round of the competition for the first time, were handed a home tie against Hartlepool United – who were eliminated in the second round of the 2014-15 competition by Blyth Spartans.

Altrincham, one of five non-League sides to beat League outfits in the first round after their victory against Barnsley – will travel to Essex to take on Colchester United.

And Forest Green Rovers, who also dislodged high-profile opposition with a fine win at AFC Wimbledon, were last out of the hat and face an away tie at either Braintree Town or Oxford United.

Eastleigh, who were also first round giant-killers thanks to an impressive 1-0 victory at Crewe, face fellow non-Leaguers Stourbridge.

The highest ranked side in the draw were Walsall, who sit top of League One and they will travel to the winners of the FC United of Manchester v Chesterfield tie.
