Charlton Athletic's Danny Green is hoping for an FA Cup run this season.

Danny Green is hoping to live out his childhood dreams in The FA Cup this season, as Charlton Athletic prepare for the last remaining place in the Fourth Round Proper.

The Addicks head to Oxford United in their Third Round replay on Tuesday night and winger Green is eyeing progress for Chris Powell’s team.

"I used to watch The FA Cup when I was young, just like all the boys did,” admitted the former Dagenham & Redbridge man.

"You'd love a little run and to play a Manchester United, a Liverpool, a Chelsea or anyone like that - it would be ideal.

"So the away leg is important and we have to go there and beat Oxford."

The winners of Tuesday’s tie at the Kassam Stadium will head north to play Huddersfield Town in the Fourth Round this weekend.

And after helping Charlton come back from being 2-0 down against their League Two opponents at half time in the first tie, Green believes they now need to significantly improve if they are to progress.

"I can't repeat some of the stuff the manager said, but he wasn't very happy,” added the 25-year-old on Charlton Athletic Player.

"We knew that, though, everyone did - the players and the fans.

"You don't want to let yourselves down. You go out there to play for the shirt, play for yourselves and do yourself justice.

"That was the main thing he said and the boys did that in the second half and they did well.”
