As Head Coach of the England U16s team, the former Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth and Aston Villa player has enjoyed a successful tenure in charge with many victories in the Victory Shield, Montaigu and Nordic Tournaments.
Swain has played a part in the international development of several England players
Swain also worked as assistant coach to John Peacock at U17 level, where under his guidance, he participated in two World Cups and two European Championship successes in 2010 and 2014.
A European Cup winner with Aston Villa, Swain has been an FA coach educator for 16 years, including the UEFA Pro Licence coaching programme over the last decade.
As part of The Football Association’s talent identification programme, he has also had a major part in the development of players such as Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck, James Milner, Jack Wilshere, Ross Barkley, Raheem Sterling and Luke Shaw who have all progressed from England U16 level to the senior national team.
He has also assisted at U18 and U19 level and was part of the coaching staff at the U20 World Cup finals in Egypt 2009 after joining The FA in 2004.
The FA’s Director of Football Development Sir Trevor Brooking said: "Kenny was a key figure in helping us achieve the new structure at St. George’s Park.
"Over the course of about seven or eight years Kenny, by talking to the clubs, was instrumental in us gaining better access to players.
"He has nurtured so many current England internationals through the system, players that could provide the core of the squad over the next five or six years.
The former Aston Villa and Chelsea player has enjoyed numerous Victory Shield titles with England U16s
"The U16s is a good starting point into international football with the Victory Shield and Kenny obviously enjoyed great success in that competition.
"He also worked closely with John Peacock at U17 level and had a big part to play in us winning the U17 Euros in 2010 and this year as well.
"We wish him well with his future pursuits."
Swain added: "It’s been an honour and privilege to identify and coach loads of young talented players who really have matured into top players in our country over the past ten years.
"The development of young players on and off the field has always been my priority and I’ve shared some valuable and enjoyable experiences with The FA in coaching all England youth International teams.
"I believe our standing in International Youth football throughout Europe is as high as ever and it leaves me with great optimism for the near future."
