This is the seventh edition of the competition which was introduced to produce England’s representatives into the UEFA Regions Cup, the world’s premier amateur competition and the only adult male 11-a-side competition apart from The Emirates FA Cup where the winner qualifies for a UEFA tournament.

On their way to The Final, the Teesside League have defeated the Scarborough & District League (6-2), Cumberland County League (3-1), Staffordshire County League (3-1), holders Isle of Man League (3-1) and in the Semi-Final they defeated regular favourites from the Southern Amateur League (1-0) to record a very impressive run.

And the West Yorkshire League have also turned in some impressive performances to reach the showpiece, defeating the Wearside League (3-1) Yorkshire Amateur League (4-1), West Cheshire League (2-1) and the Cambridgeshire County League (1-0) to set up a Semi-Final with the Spartan South Midlands League.

They lost that game by 3-2 at Hertford Town, but having appealed against the registration of one of the Spartan players, they've been reinstated into the competition and thus find themselves in The Final and only one game from a European adventure.

The winners of The Final will find themselves with another huge task ahead as they have been drawn with Romania, Russia and Serbia in their UEFA Regions Cup Qualifying Round. The games take the form of a week-long mini tournament to be staged in Romania towards the end of September – so a big prize awaits.
