Former FA Vice Chairman Jack Pearce MBE has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Sport by the University of Chichester, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to football, sports leadership and community development over more than five decades.
Jack has dedicated his life to football, becoming one of the most respected figures in the non-League game while also holding influential positions at the highest levels.
His service has included roles as Vice Chairman of The Football Association, Chairman of the National League and Chair of the National League Trust, alongside his long association with Bognor Regis Town FC.
Having first joined Bognor Regis Town as a player before becoming player-manager in 1976, over the following decades, he helped transform the club both on and off the pitch, strengthening its facilities, creating opportunities for players and volunteers, and ensuring it remained at the heart of the local community.
“It was a complete surprise and not something I was expecting,” said Jack.
“Receiving this kind of recognition is always very special because it makes you realise how fortunate you have been.
“There are many people doing wonderful things across our area, so to be recognised in this way is a real honour.
“Being awarded an MBE in 2024 was a tremendous honour and a wonderful recognition of my efforts over many years.”
