Chatham Town beat York City 3-0

Chatham Town booked their place in the fifth round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup for the first time in their history with a 3-0 win over York City.

The Chats, who play in the FA Women’s National League Division One South East, eased past their fellow fourth-tier rivals with three quickfire first-half strikes.

Ellie Jeffkins spectacularly put the hosts ahead direct from a corner before Amelia Woodgate finished off two excellent moves to put Chats in control.

It means Chatham are the lowest-ranked side going into the last 16, with Oxford United the only other FA Women’s National League side left standing after they dramatically beat Middlesbrough 3-1.

The U’s looked set to be heading out after Becky Ferguson’s goal put Boro ahead with 15 minutes to play.

But Maisy Barker levelled proceedings five minutes from time before Riva Casley headed home a sensational last-minute winner. Holly Manders put the gloss on with a long-range strike in additional time to send the third-tier side through.

Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur eased into the fifth round with a 3-0 victory over league rivals Leicester City in Sunday’s early kick-off.

Bethany England opened the scoring after 24 minutes before a Drew Spence own goal against her former side doubled the lead 15 minutes from time. Lenna Gunning-Williams wrapped up victory with a third in stoppage time.

Manchester City also comprehensively booked their place in the next round with a 6-0 win away at AFC Bournemouth.

Laura Coombs and Vivianne Miedema both scored twice after Khadija Shaw and Lauren Hemp had but City two goals to the good.

Liverpool were also 6-0 winners against London Bees, with new signing Denise O’Sullivan netting just six minutes into her debut.

Fellow new arrivals Martha Thomas and Alice Bergström both scored twice while Gemma Evans also netted.

Manchester United relied on five different scorers in their 5-0 win over Burnley, including a stunning strike from Simi Awujo.

Awujo curled home from range to make it 3-0 after Maya Le Tissier and Julia Zigiotti Olme had put Marc Skinner’s side two up.

New signing Lea Schüller scored her first for the club after the break and Layla Drury wrapped up the scoring.

Fourteen-time champions Arsenal secured their place in the hat with a 2-0 defeat of Aston Villa courtesy of second-half strikes from Stina Blackstenius and Kim Little.

Brighton & Hove Albion fought their way past Nottingham Forest 2-0 thanks to stoppage time goals at the end of each half from Madison Haley and Jelena Čankovic.

The day’s highest scorers were Charlton Athletic, who beat Swindon Town 10-0 at The Valley.

Amalie Thestrup netted a hat-trick for the Addicks, who eased past the Robins.

Charlie Devlin’s brace helped Sheffield United defeat Ipswich Town 2-1.

Devlin put her side ahead after just four minutes but Lucy O’Brien levelled before the break, before Devlin found the winner 20 minutes from time.

Ellie Syme’s late winner sent Bristol City through at the expense of Southampton, as the Robins sealed a 2-1 win after extra time.

Michaela McAlonie put Saints ahead just before the break but Syme struck ten minutes from time to force extra time.

With penalties looming, Syme scored again with just two minutes remaining to seal the tie for Bristol City.

Birmingham City were another WSL 2 side to progress, as they beat Hull City 6-2 away from home.

Blues led 4-0 at the break thanks to strikes from Chelsea Cornet, Lily Crosthwaite, Lotta Lindström, and Veatriki Sarri.

Shanade Hopcroft made it five shortly after the restart and Asato Miyagawa finished off the scoring after Hull had pulled two back through Ellie Tanser and Sophie Haywood.
