Portsmouth and Southampton sanctioned

An independent Regulatory Commission has sanctioned Portsmouth FC and Southampton FC following the mass confrontation that occurred at their EFL Championship match on Sunday 25 January.

It was alleged that around the 69th minute of the match, both clubs failed to ensure that their players did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way.

Portsmouth FC and Southampton FC subsequently admitted the charges against them. The Regulatory Commission imposed a fine of £50,000 on Southampton FC and a fine of £25,000 on Portsmouth FC, and the written reasons for these decisions can be seen below.
