Dr Andrew Johnson suspended

Dr Andrew Johnson has been suspended from all football and football-related activity for a period of four years following a breach of FA Rule E25.

The former Bury FC club doctor admitted that he tampered with doping control by providing fraudulent information to an anti-doping organisation – namely The FA and/or UK Anti-Doping – in relation to an application for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) on behalf of a player.

Dr Andrew Johnson admitted the charge but sought a reduction in the standard sanction by relying on Regulation 72 of The FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations and requested a personal hearing. However, an independent Regulatory Commission subsequently ordered that a reduction in sanction was not appropriate.

The suspension was effective immediately and will run until the end of 13 January 2024

The independent Regulatory Commission’s written reasons in relation to the suspension can be found below.
