England were held to a draw by France in their second game of the IBSA Euro Finals in Rome on Wednesday morning.

After winning their opening game against Germany on Tuesday afternoon, Jon Pugh's side were back in action just a few hours later the following day.

And the Para Lions picked up where they left off, as the stronger of the teams in the first half and enjoying the better of the chances.

On a number of occasions, they came close to breaking the deadlock with Dan English firing a shot inches wide of the top corner, before Roy Turnham embarked on a fine run which ended with his low effort saved by the French keeper Montlehu de Chevreau.

France emerged for the second half with a bit more rhythm and the Para Lions had to show their defensive worth while managing to restrict goalkeeper Dylan Malpas to few saves.

French captain Frederic Villeroux was proving their danger man and after working some space for himself, his shot was saved by Malpas.

But England had a great chance to win it with five minutes left on the clock, when Turnham was tripped in the area to win a penalty.

English stepped up to take the penalty, but de Chevreau guessed right to save it, before blocking the skipper's follow-up shot.

England will be in action again on Thursday when they face current Euro champions Russia (2pm). You can watch live on FISPIC.
