FA Chairman Greg Clarke was elected as a FIFA Vice-President on Thursday

Greg Clarke has been elected as a FIFA Vice President at the 43rd UEFA Congress held in Rome on Thursday.

Our Chairman will succeed David Gill in the position reserved for the four British associations after a vote of UEFA’s 55 members. It means he will become one of UEFA’s nine European representatives on the FIFA Council – world football’s main decision-making body.

Clarke, who will serve a four-year term starting from the FIFA Congress in Paris this June, said: “It is a privilege to take on this important role and I am deeply grateful to my UEFA colleagues for their support and trust.

“I am proud to accept the responsibility of representing the home associations and continuing the good work of David Gill, who is rightly held in such high regard.

"In particular, I am looking forward to building on the strong and close relationships I have forged with colleagues from across Europe and being a positive influence on the wider work of FIFA.”
