England’s Futsal team will play host to Germany in September, as they start preparations for this season’s World Cup qualifiers.

Michael Skubala’s squad will begin the new season by playing two games at St. George’s Park, with the first coming on the evening of Friday 20 September before another clash the following afternoon.

It’s a return fixture in England for the two nations, who previously met in Hamburg in October and November 2016 to mark a historic occasion with what was Germany’s first-ever international Futsal game.

After progressing through the preliminary Futsal World Cup qualifying round in February, England will head to Italy in October (22-27) for the main round of World Cup qualification, when they will play Italy, Hungary and Belarus.

And Futsal Lions head coach Skubala believes this is the sort of fixture which will ensure his charges are ready for what promises to be a tough challenge.

“This is a great opportunity to test ourselves against one of the fastest growing Futsal nations in the world,” he said.

“It’s also another side who have made it through the World Cup main round stage.

“I’m sure with our football history, it will be a great competitive game as we prepare for Italy in October.”

The previous meeting three years ago ended in a 5-3 defeat for England in the first match before they shared a thrilling 3-3 draw in the second game thanks to an equaliser from current Wolves player Max Kilman.

September is a big month for English Futsal, as the newly-formed National Futsal Series launches the following weekend on Sunday 29 September.

Tickets for both games are on sale now, including admission to a warm-up game beforehand, with those fixtures to be announced.
