The Emirates FA Cup extra preliminary round concluded with 38 ties and 145 goals.

The final extra preliminary round tie took place on Tuesday night as Burnham beat Tring Athletic 2-1. Joe Blount scored the winner, but poor discipline cost the visitors who had two players sent off.

The other 28 midweek matches were all replays and produced plenty of drama.

Three of Tuesday’s ties went to penalties. Lancing equalised in the dying seconds of extra-time in a 4-4 thriller at home to Egham, but eventually lost 4-3 on spot kicks.

Erith & Belvedere won 5-3 on penalties at Peacehaven & Telscombe after the match finished 1-1.

And Shrivenham saw off Holmer Green 5-4 in their shootout following a 1-1 draw.

Andover New Street scored a 90th-minute winner as Justin Bennett handed them a 3-2 win over Bermerton Heath.

Northwich Victoria survived a spirited fightback from Silsden, who were 3-0 down, to earn a narrow 4-3 victory. John Connolly netted the late winner to keep Vics on track to reach the Emirates FA Cup first round for the first time since 2015-16.

Elsewhere, the highest scorers of the night were Dunston. Mark Fitzpatrick grabbed a hat-trick as the Northern Premier League side beat Consett 5-2.

Aiden Thomas scored all four goals as Westfields thrashed Congleton Town 4-1 at Widemarsh Common in Hereford.

And Wembley are still in the competition. Their Vale Farm ground is only two miles from Wembley Stadium and a 3-2 win at home to Hayes ensures a trip there is still not impossible. Francis Babalola’s stunning half-volley proved the difference between the sides in an entertaining encounter.

On Wednesday night, Jamie Bradbury’s Long Melford beat Southend Manor 5-4 on penalties. Goalkeeper Ben Devlin made the crucial save after the tie finished 3-3.

White Ensign progressed to the preliminary round in their debut Emirates FA Cup season. Captain Jack McWee was amongst the scorers in a 3-1 extra-time victory over Woodford Town at Burroughs Park in Great Wakering.

A crowd of 393 watched Stockton Town thrash Nostell Miners Welfare 5-2. Jamie Owen scored twice at Bishopton Road West.

Skem United also enjoyed a comfortable 5-2 victory at Penistone Church. Alex Griffiths, John Keatley, Matthew Scoullar and Joe Cawley, plus an own goal from the hosts, sent the North West Counties Premier side through in style.

Former Norwich City striker Grant Holt scored twice as Wroxham FC beat Kirkley & Pakefield 3-2. The 38-year-old balances his day job as an academy coach at The Canaries with turning out at Trafford Park.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Baffins Milton Rovers, Coventry Sphinx, Guisborough Town and Wantage Town.

All victorious sides receive £2,250 from The FA prize fund, while the losers receive £750.

The preliminary round takes place over the weekend of Saturday 24 August.
