England U19s head coach Rehanne Skinner is urging her squad to take their razor-sharp shooting into the rest of their elite round qualifiers this week.

The Young Lionesses kicked-off their group games at St. George’s Park with a 7-0 victory over Turkey on Wednesday afternoon.

And they’re now preparing for Saturday’s clash with Sweden and the final match with Italy next Tuesday, knowing that only the team who finishes top of the group will progress to this summer’s U19 EURO Finals in Scotland.

“The next two games will be tougher,” admits Skinner, who joined England in 2017 having previously been an assistant coach with Wales U19s and Arsenal Ladies prior to that.

“They’re both strong nations who finished top of their earlier qualifying groups.

“But after the progress we’ve made this season and the good performance we’ve produced in this first game, we’ll be ready.”

Skinner was particularly pleased with the way her players carried out their game plan against the Turks though, with five goals in 16 first-half minutes really setting the standard.

“We did really well,” she added.

“The girls applied the game plan we’d put in place and I was really happy with that.

“We got some good goals out of the game and could have had more, so it was an excellent start to this elite round for us.”
