NORTHERN DIVISION

Rovers needed a victory and hoped Middlesbrough lost at home to Leicester and they certainly held up their end of the bargain.

But the defending champions didn’t have it all their own way as Hazzana Parnell put Forest 1-0 up before Lagan Makin drilled in the equaliser.

With 20 minutes to play Jess Holbrook put Rovers on the brink before Tasha Flint’s curling effort and an own goal sealed a 4-1 win.

Middlesbrough meanwhile could not keep the title chase alive as they lost a nine-goal thriller to Leicester, going down 6-3 thanks to a standout display from Rosie Axten who bagged two goals.

Guiseley Vixens moved out of the relegation zone on goal difference as they were held to a 2-2 draw with Fylde.

Charlie Blythe opened the scoring for the Vixens before Sophie Charlton’s penalty levelled things up.

Emily Heckler thought she’d grabbed victory for the Vixens Emily Hollinshead’s header means the bottom three are all level on points heading into the final week.

SOUTHERN DIVISION

Kit Graham was the star of the show as she scored all four goals to help Charlton seal the Southern Division title against Crystal Palace.

The forward got the scoring underway after just eight minutes and doubled her tally after latching onto a superb free-kick from Nicole Pepper.

And Graham’s hat-trick was completed on 51 minutes with a magnificent effort from the edge of the box before bringing up her fourth of the day and her 200th goal for the Addicks.

QPR needed a victory to keep their chances of survival alive but were undone by a ruthless Portsmouth side who prevailed 6-1 at Fratton Park.

Skipper Charley Boswell opened her account for the afternoon on 25 minutes before Sammy Quayle and McLachlan netted to make it 3-0 at the break.

Pompey didn’t let up and a Rachel Panting penalty after 70 minutes confirmed the victory with Quayle scoring her second and EJ May finding the net. Chontele Lawrence found a consolation for QPR.

Elsewhere a strike from Hayley West helped C&K Basildon finish off their season in style as they beat Chichester 1-0.

The strike was good enough to earn Basildon second place in the table as they leapfrogged Palace to finish runner-up.

Coventry United consolidated their sixth place in the Southern Division with a 5-0 victory over Gillingham.

Goals from Stephanie Smith, Jade Formaston, Lois Jeffries, Marie Gauntlett and Keeley Davies on return from injury ensured a comfortable victory.

Meanwhile there was a confident victory for Lewes who beat Cardiff City 4-0.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Middlesbrough needed a victory to keep their slim title hopes alive but those dreams were extinguished by a rampant Leicester City.

Middlesbrough started the goal-fest before Sophie Domingo levelled. Two quick goals followed before Charlotte Greengrass edged City in front before the break.

The visitors ran riot in the second half as Rosie Axten netted twice and Nicole Nymeon scored to complete the victory.

MANAGER OF THE WEEK

Going to your closest rivals is never easy so the way in which Charlton comfortably despatched Crystal Palace means Riteesh Mishra deserves manager of the week. Kit Graham getting all four goals for the Addicks to seal the Southern Division title.

GOAL OF THE WEEK

Coventry United have been in the goals in recent weeks and Jade Formaston’s effort was worthy of the goal of the week crown.

The forward picked up the ball from 30 yards and produced a stunning lob to help United on their way to a 5-0 win over Gillingham.
