England squad named for UEFA Women's U17 Championship finals

England U17s will be on the Euro trail in Lithuania

John Griffiths has named his 20-player England squad to compete in the UEFA Women’s U17 Championship finals in Lithuania next week.

The Young Lionesses have been drawn in Group B and their first match is against Poland on Wednesday 9 May. Then it’s Spain on Saturday 12 May followed by Italy three days later.

Group A comprises Germany, Netherlands, Finland and the host nation. The top two teams in each group will make it through to the semi-finals.

England had to come through two rounds of qualifiers to get to this stage.

They defeated Latvia (10-0), Slovakia (6-0) and Scotland (3-0) last October and then saw off Switzerland (4-0) and Norway (2-0) after opening their elite round group with a goalless draw with Slovenia.
