Here is how your school can get involved in the UEFA Under-17 European Championships

Monday 22 Jan 2018
Early kick-off times for schools at 1pm during term-time to make it as easy as possible for schools to attend.

England will proudly host the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in May 2018. The tournament is a unique opportunity for your school to see the next Pogba, Rooney or Ronaldo on your very own doorstep and we know the Midlands and Yorkshire will give the 16 competing teams a warm welcome.

The tournament will be played between Friday 4 May and Sunday 20 May, across 10 match days at six venues: Rotherham United, Chesterfield, Burton Albion, Walsall, St. George’s Park and Loughborough University.

On the back of recent success across our development teams, including England Under-17s and England Under-20s both winning World Cups in 2017 – the tournament presents a fantastic opportunity to inspire and capture the imagination of young people across the region.

Here is how your school can get involved:

Early kick-off times and tickets just £2

At least one match in each stadium will be an early kick-off at 1pm during term-time to make it as easy as possible for schools to attend. School tickets are just £2 for children and free for accompanying teachers and adults.

Win free coach travel or a player visit

Purchase your school tickets by Thursday 22 March and your school could win free coach travel to and from a match, or be in with a chance of a player visit to your school ahead of the tournament.

Adopt a nation

Once we know which nations will face each other after the Final Draw on 5 April, we will be encouraging schools to ‘adopt a nation’ and get behind one of the teams you will be watching. Pupils will be able to learn more about the nation’s culture and be in with a chance of hosting a visit from your adopted nation’s team once they have arrived in England.

Champions flag competition

The Champions Flag competition is designed to be an engaging, fun and creative way for all young people to enjoy the tournament. Pupils are invited to simply design their own Champions Flag - we have provided some idea starters. The winning designs will be selected and recreated as giant flags and displayed at stadiums throughout the tournament. All our winners will receive special recognition on the pitch at half-time. And if that’s not enough, we will also lay on free coach travel for the winner’s school as well as free match tickets for every design submitted by the school. The competition closing date is Friday 30 March.
