Everybody here is just so excited, this is the furthest we’ve ever got in an FA competition in our history.

We reached the first round proper of the FA Trophy a few years ago but this is by far the best run we’ve ever had.

The mood is excitement and anticipation and I think we’ll get a big crowd down here, I’m expecting about 1,000 of our supporters and we generally average about 120 or 130 in the league.

Leighton Town FC
  • Situated near Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire
  • Have never reached this stage of the Buildbase FA Vase before
  • Host 1874 Northwich on Saturday 24 February
  • Stand to win £4,125 and a place in the semi-finals
That shows how big a game this is for us, this attendance should be the third highest that I’ve known of since 1990.

I think Northwich will bring around 250-300 so it should be the biggest attendance we’ve had since 1992 when we had over 2,000 in the ground for a South Midlands League game against our old rivals MK Borough.

I’ve been walking down the high street and people have been stopping me and saying ‘hey, I’m coming on Saturday’ and it’ll be people I’ve not seen at the ground for 10 years.

There will be a lot of people at the game who have supported the club in the past and don’t come anymore for whatever reasons.

I’ll see a lot of people who I’ve known for 25 years and I think if we can win they will come and give us support and come to our last 10 home games.

We certainly have got the community involved and everyone’s asking how we’re going to do, everyone thinks we’re going to win of course and we are confident but who knows what will happen – who would of thought Wigan would beat Manchester City in the FA Cup the other night?!

I get very nervous and I will be on Saturday, once the game kicks off I’m alright but until then I’ll be nervous for the players.

I hope nobody makes a silly mistake, I hope it’ll be a good game of football and I hope there’s no controversy, no sending’s off and I hope it’s played in great spirit.

Tickets for Non-League Finals Day, which features the finals of both the Trophy and Buildbase FA Vase at Wembley, on Sunday 20 May are already on sale. Find out more on how you could be there.
