England men's deaf Futsal squad set for European Championship in Finland

The England squad have spent time preparing for the Euros at Manchester Metropolitan University

England men’s deaf Futsal squad head to Finland this week to challenge for the EDSO European Deaf Futsal Championship.

The Three Lions secured their qualification for the tournament in Tampere last February and have recently been preparing for the competition at Manchester Metropolitan University prior to the trip.

European Deaf Futsal Championship
  • 10am, Friday 7 December: England v Russia
  • 12.30pm, Saturday 8 December: England v Bulgaria
  • 3pm, Sunday 9 December: England v Sweden
  • Tampere, Finland

Paul Harrison’s team are currently ranked at 12th in Europe and haven’t competed at these championships for the past eight years but have high hopes of challenging the best deaf nations in Europe this time around.

England kick-off their group stage against the world’s number one ranked team Russia on Friday 7 December, before facing Bulgaria the following day.

They then round-off the group round against Sweden on Sunday 9 December, after which the competition goes into a knockout stage.

The squad: Sam Kitchin, Nathan Jackson, Philip Swift, Adam Breeze, Scott Coalwood, Rhyan Evans, Daniel Hogan, Jamie Clarke, Andy Reay, Marios Costi, Byron Downs, John Atkinson, Oliver Manoocherhi, Davut Jarchiou.
