  • Chelsea 6-0 Bristol City
  • Arsenal 3-2 Birmingham City

  • Yeovil Town 0-4 Man City
They added a second in the 42nd minute when Claire Emslie made a kinking run on the right-hand side and crossed the ball for Ross to slot home and double their lead.

City continued to create chances in the second half and added to their lead just before the hour mark when Jill Scott blasted home with a low, powerful drive that Megan Walsh was unable to block.

Substitute Georgia Stanway completed the scoring with an angled effort as City made a dream start to the season.

Meanwhile, FA WSL Spring Series 1 winners Chelsea put six past Bristol City, with Drew Spence, Fran Kirby, Magdalena Eriksson and Gilly Flaherty adding to Maren Mjedle’s brace for the Blues.

Arsenal came from behind to edge Birmingham City in a five-goal thriller at Meadow Park. Ellen White’s double looked to have given the Blues all three points, but Lisa Evans levelled in the 84th minute and Jodie Taylor converted a penalty in the last minute to steal the points.

Elsewhere, Sunderland edged Reading 1-0 thanks to Simona Koren’s early strike, and Liverpool defeated Merseyside rivals Everton 2-0 in the opening game of the season on Friday night.

Doncaster Rovers Belles were the big winners in FA WSL 2 as they romped to a 4-1 win over London Bees.

Millwall were 3-1 victors over Watford, Durham saw off FA WSL newcomers Tottenham and there were narrow wins for Brighton and Oxford over Aston Villa and Sheffield respectively.
