The Buildbase FA Vase match winners are one step closer to Wembley

Mark Fereday netted a superb hat-trick in the Buildbase FA Vase, as his Dronfield Town side pulled a comeback out of the bag to knock out Worsbrough Bridge in the first round qualifying.

The hosts had taken the lead before Fereday found his groove, slotting in a penalty to ensure honours were even at the break.

The same man was at it again to equalise for a second time 13 minutes from time, and the tie was wrapped up with just six minutes to go, with Fereday the hero from the penalty spot for the second time in the afternoon in the 3-2 win.

That was a scoreline being toasted by AFC Liverpool too, knocking out Athersley Recreation on their way to the second round qualifying stage thanks to two goals in four minutes.

Lee Garside had put the visitors ahead, but a double salvo from Kev Edgar and Joe Whittington turned the game on its head by the break.

Adam Weston made it 3-1 from the penalty spot, and while Kyle Wadsworth halved the deficit for Athersley, they ran out of steam and were unable to find the equaliser.

Meanwhile Shirebrook Town impressed away from home to win 3-0 at Grimsby Borough, thanks in no small part to a hat-trick from Kieran Watson, who returned to the club only this summer.

Goals were free-flowing for Stowmarket Town too, running out 7-0 winners over a young Team Bury, with some stunning strikes lighting up the afternoon.

Enfield 1893 got the only goal of the game against Haverhill Borough, as did Baldock Town against Buckingham Town, while AFC Croydon and Barkingside FC prevailed 2-1 over Bearsted and Southend Manor respectively.

Coventry United came from a goal down to beat Tipton Town 3-1, while Oxford City Nomads defeated Woodley United by the same scoreline.

And Lewisham Borough’s Buildbase FA Vase debut was to go all the way to extra-time, but it wasn’t to be as FC Deportivo Galicia rallied to a 6-3 victory.
