The Emirates FA Cup first round qualifying took place on Saturday

Marlow built upon the experience of coming face-to-face with the famous Emirates FA Cup by sailing through the first qualifying round this afternoon.

The Buckinghamshire side, who were formed in 1870, were one of the 15 clubs to compete in the inaugural year of the world’s original national club competition and the trophy itself visited their Alfred Davis Memorial Ground home in midweek.

Marlow’s progress into the second qualifying round was sealed with a 2-0 success at Beaconsfield Town, with Jordan Brown and Charley Samuel netting late in the second period to send the Evo-Stik League South East outfit through.

Elsewhere, Lancaster City, from the Evo-Stik League Premier Division, overcame the potential banana skin posed by Colne, their rivals from Division One North last term.

Simon Wills fired Lancaster into an early lead away at Holt House and that proved enough for them to eke out a 1-0 victory.

Hereford waltzed into the next round of qualifying in style as they decimated Godalming Town by 8-0.

After Godalming had goalkeeper Aaron Bufton sent off for handling outside the area, the floodgates opened for the Bulls.

John Mills, who also had a penalty saved, hit a hat-trick and Pablo Hysham scored twice, with Mark Preece, Keyon Reffell, and Garyn Preen also getting in on the act.

Horsham won 6-0 against Ashford United, Merthyr Town beat Willand Rovers 6-1 and AFC Mansfield, who bested Dunkirk 6-2, all also found their shooting boots.

In the day’s early kick-off, big-spending Bostik League Premier Division outfit Billericay Town put on a show for the BBC cameras as they thrashed Didcot Town 5-0.

Jake Robinson was the star of the show as Ricay put their Evo-Stik League South West opponents to the sword, with the former Brighton & Hove Albion striker grabbing a hat-trick while Ricky Modeste also got in on the act during the second half.

Jeremy Lynch, more widely known for his work as a football freestyler, won a last-gasp penalty for the hosts, which was emphatically dispatched by Adam Cunnington.
