A brace from Darren McQueen saw an inexperienced England C team beat Panjab FA at Solihull Moors.

After a promising start, Paul Fairclough’s team broke the deadlock on 34 minutes.

A turn of pace from McQueen saw him break beyond the Panjab defence and latch on to Chester’s James Alabi’s net through ball, then the Ebbsfleet United front man saw him finish over the advancing keeper Ash Malhotra.

Panjab got back on level terms 10 minutes after the restart.

Rajpal Virk was brought down by Ryan Croasdale 25 yards out, Gurjit Singh’s subsequent free-kick was parried by keeper James Montgomery, but Raspal Virk was well-placed to fire in the loose ball.

Seven minutes later McQueen hit the winner. David Ferguson put in a brilliant low cross and McQueen hooked his effort into the far corner via a deflection.
